- 1 (four pound) beef shoulder roast
- 1/4 cup molasses
- Sauce:
- 3 cups barbeque sauce
- 1 cup robust brewed espresso
- 1 tablespoon molasses
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1 pinch cayenne pepper, or greater to taste
- 4 Italian-fashion hoagie buns, break up lengthwise and toasted
- 1/4 cup onion, chopped (optionally available)
